Snowy Range Moose Project

Compared to other ungulates of North America, moose are particularly susceptible to heat stress. Moose of the Snowy Range in southern Wyoming occupy some of the southern-most ranges of the species, and we aim to understand how the habitats moose occupy influence susceptibility to heat stress and how that may be tied to population performance.

Meeteetse Moose Ecology Project

There is a myriad of factors that can affect population performance of moose in their southern distribution. Yet, most research evaluating the influence of climate, predation, and habitat on moose populations has focused on the female sector and little is known about what influences behavior and survival of male moose. We’ll be comparing how male and female moose in the Wood and Greybull Rivers respond to the various factors that can regulate moose popultaions.
