Our latest research and findings on mule deer:

Wyoming Range Mule Deer Project
The Wyoming Range is home to one of the most cherished mule deer populations in North America, but the abundance of this population is just not what it used to be. With an overarching objective of understanding what factors most influence population growth and decline, we are also discovering how climate, habitat, nutrition, human disturbance, and animal behavior all interact to influence reproduction and survival.

Deer-Elk Ecology Research Project
As populations of mule deer across much of the West have declined or remained relatively stagnant, populations of elk have increased. This is leaving many scratching their heads and asking, "Why?". The Deer-Elk Ecology Research Project (DEER) is aimed at finding the answers.
